INSPIRING WORK

Today we had our Graphic Design Seminar in college where we saw the work of few Graphic Designers based in United Kingdom. There were few whose work inspired me a lot.

RUSSELL COBB:
Russell Cobb is a British illustrator and photographer. His work has been published all over the world. I was greatly inspired by his sketchbooks. He is thoughtful and puts his imagination on the paper in a very interesting way. Few examples from his sketchbook are here:

MOVE YOUR MIND:
Difference of opinion helps you drill more into the subject as you will explore the reason for the difference

Observation is an essential part of any designer's life. Russel Cobb's sketchbooks are a very good example of how to put your imagination on paper.
Also,
  • More you look around, more you observe, more u imagine.
  • Imagination comes by looking at the world from your own eyes.
  • Brainstorming is important and helps create ideas.
  • writing adds to the generation of innovative concepts.
  • Playing games help in generating innovative ideas.
  • Draw when waiting somewhere.
  • Listen to people's conversation and draw.
  • documenting is a good idea.
  • self promotion-making postcards, printing them and sending them to clients and point them towards your website.
  • public yourself.
  • Approaching yourself to publish your work.
  • Illustrating on walls is a good way of converting boring into interesting.

FEEDBACK on PGCert Presentation

It has taken you some time to identify not only the area of graphic design you are interested in but also the subject content, notably that of environmental issues. This has hindered you progress a little, but hopefully has now been rectified.

The research into infographics has been thorough and you have sourced some very interesting examples to act as inspiration for possible ways of realizing your project.

Since it has taken you some time to fix on the content of the project the development stage is quite light in relation to the research phase. More ideas and concepts based on real facts or data in relation to recycling will be of benefit to you in the next phase of the MA. You need to make sure the visual representation relates directly to the content you have sourced. At the moment that emphasis has been on information design and it now needs to concentrate more on the data.

Try to allow enough time to develop your concepts next term and to experiment with the ways and methods, which you can use to present this data visually. These should be appropriate and considered for the audience.

You have an intelligent approach that needs to be followed though in the next stage of the project to reach a final outcome.

According to my supervisor I have been deeply investigating in the area of Information Design, which to him seems to be satisfactory. What is needed now is investigate more in the subject area of Recycling. Finding the content that i would show through infographics. I have been contemplating since long about the content. These holidays would be spent in finding out
